When to Call in the Tree Removal Experts on the Gold Coast?

24 September 2020/in General /by GO Creative Support

One of the biggest reasons to call in the tree removal experts on the Gold Coast is because your tree is dying. Most tree owners look after their trees and at the first sign of anything wrong, call in their local arborist to try and identify and fix the problem. Usually, your trees will remain healthy for years, only requiring pruning and lopping occasionally. Some trees, however, can become infested with pests and with all the best will in the world, they can’t be saved.

So if you’ve done everything you can and your tree still isn’t responding well to your efforts, how do you know it’s time to call it a day and remove the tree? Well, there are five very clear signs that your tree needs to be removed. They might not be completely obvious to you, but to an arborist, they clearly demonstrate that a tree needs to be removed.

5 Reasons for tree removal on the Gold Coast

 1. Your tree is on the lean

If your studiously upright tree suddenly starts to lean over to one side, even if it’s only slightly, it can only end in one result – your tree will eventually fall over. This is a very dangerous situation that might not happen for a while, but a tree that suddenly starts to overbalance will fall one day. It’s likely a problem with the roots or a disease, but whatever the cause, it needs to be removed before it becomes a danger to people, pets and your property.

 2. Unhealthy roots

This can be a very subtle sign, because after all, you might not be able to see the tree’s roots above ground. Causes of root damage can be compacted soil, which itself can be the result of parking on grass that’s too close to the tree or lots of foot traffic across the grass covering the roots. Mulching too close to the tree’s trunk can also damage the roots by suffocation. If you’re unsure whether the roots are a problem, first look for other signs that your tree is unhealthy, and second, call in an arborist for a diagnosis. If the roots are the issue, you will need to call in your local tree removal experts on the Gold Coast.

 3. No leaves or flowers

Trees that no longer produce leaves or flowers may be very unhealthy. If there are other trees of the same species around, you should instantly see that there’s a problem with your tree’s bare leaves. You should also be suspicious if there aren’t any other trees of the same species in your area, simply because it’s unusual for your tree. In fact, bare branches are one of the most obvious signs that a tree is dying. Another big sign is when half of the tree looks fine and the other half has no leaves or flowers. This most probably means that half the tree is pest ridden or diseased, which will cause the tree to start leaning over towards the dead side, and eventually falling. This is another instance where calling in the tree removal experts on the Gold Coast is a wise move.

 4. Unhealthy or falling branches

Many trees naturally drop their branches, which is why Eucalyptus trees are often called Widow Makers! Falling branches from these trees can be very dangerous, so it’s always wise to plant these trees far away from pedestrian traffic. A tree doesn’t have to be unhealthy to drop its branches, however, but it certainly can be a sign of something going amiss. On the Gold Coast, if any of your tree’s branches look unhealthy or if more than one branch has dropped recently, it’s best to call in an arborist and talk about their tree removal services.

 5. Pest infestations

Hopefully, if you have noticed an increase in inspects around your tree, your local arborist has found a solution that works. Insects around trees aren’t unusual, but an uptick in their numbers is grounds for concern. Insect infestations can be one of the easier signs to spot indicating that your tree is in big trouble. That’s because insects seem to know when a tree is unhealthy and make a beeline for these trees. They can do enough damage themselves, but these insects can also spread disease that compounds the problem. Bark beetles for example, love to live in trees that are dying, so if you see these beetles, it’s time to consider tree removal as your best option.
